What Is Holistic Care?
Holistic care defines itself by its own nature. It is the process of self-evaluation that begins with the patient wanting to take responsibility for his or her own well being. This type of care is not reductionistic in nature. It does not break a person down into different pieces of dysfunction and try to fix the pieces one at a time. Instead, holistic caregivers strive to take into account the whole person on all levels simultaneously, by looking at the structural, emotional, nutritional, spiritual, and physical components of dis-ease. Then, after doing so, they look for general patterns, that when corrected, will help resolve all levels of symptomology, regardless of which origin they may arise from. This process also takes into consideration the natural process of healing, and the understanding that each person is an individual, and will, therefore, have a schedule of healing all their own. No two people are the same.
At Optimal Wellness Center we strive to be aware of this process from the beginning. We address the individual and the natural process of healing in the way we design our space, by how we greet our patients, by providing only the highest level of staff, doctors and therapists, and by offering the best nutritional products available, etc. Most importantly, we support this process by maintaining a constant, loving, caring environment in which people can feel safe and comfortable while utilizing all our services. Holistic care is not any one thing; it is the process of self healing that one does for oneself because one feels it is important to be all they can be in their life. Dr. Jordan treats a patient
What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy, or homeopathic medicine, is a holistic system of treatment that originated in the late eighteenth century. The name homeopathy is derived from two Greek words that mean "like disease." The system is based on the idea that substances that produce symptoms of sickness in healthy people will have a curative effect when given in very dilute quantities to sick people who exhibit those same symptoms. Homeopathic remedies stimulate the body's own healing processes. Homeopathic remedies are created by taking a toxic symptom-producing substance (of plant, animal or mineral origin) and diluting it (most often in water or alcohol), and diluting the dilution over and over again. Ironically, instead of decreasing the curative properties of the original dilution, repeated dilutions are found to be more powerful. Today homeopathic remedies are used worldwide. They are natural, non-habit forming, have no side effects or contraindications, and combine safely with other medications.

Remedies can be taken over long periods of time and also to alleviate acute symptoms either one at a time or in combination. Homeopathic medicines need to be handled with care as they can become spoiled or contaminated. Their delicate balance requires storage away from electromagnetic objects such as televisions or computers and protection from strong odors or aromas.

At OWC we believe that illness is specific to an individual. We seek to cure our patients on the physical, mental and emotional levels, and each treatment is tailored to a patients individual needs. Homeopathy is a safe treatment, as it uses medicines in extremely diluted quantities, and there are usually minimal side effects. Its non-toxicity makes it a good choice for the treatment of children.
